śāstramāha-trividhacittānāṃ nirodho nirodhasatyaṃ yaduta prajñapticittaṃ dharmacittaṃ śūnyatācittam| (pṛ) kathameṣāṃ trayāṇāṃ cittānāṃ nirodhaḥ| (u) prajñapticittaṃ bahuśrutapratyayajñānena vā nirudhyate| cintanāpratyayajñānena vā nirudhyate| dharmacittamūṣmagatādidharmeṣu śūnyatābuddhayā nirudhyate| śūnyatācittaṃ nirodhasamāpattyavataraṇena nirudhyate| yadi vā'nupadhiśeṣanirvāṇe'vatarataḥ santānasamucchede nirudhyate|

(pṛ) katamā prajñaptiḥ| (u) skandhānupādāya ye vikalpā tadyathā pañcaskandhānupādāya puruṣa ityucyate| rūparasagandhasparśānupādāya ghaṭa ityucyate ityādi| (pṛ) kasmādiyaṃ prajñaptiḥ| (u) sūtre bhagavānāha-

yathāhyaṅgasambhārādbhavati śabdo ratheti ca|
evaṃ skandheṣu satsveva bhavati sattveti saṃvṛtiḥ|| iti|

yathā ca bhagavān bhikṣūnavocat-dharmā anityā duḥkhāḥ śūnyā anātmānaḥ pratītyasamutpannā aniyatasvabhāvā nāmamātramanusmaraṇamātraṃ bhogamātram| imāneva pañcaskandhānupādāya nānā nāma pravartate sattvo manuṣyo deva ityādi iti| sūtre'smin vastusato dharmasya pratiṣedhāducyate nāmamātramiti|

kiñcāha bhagavān-dve satye paramārthasatyaṃ saṃvṛtisatyamiti| paramārthasatyaṃ yaduta rūpādayo dharmā nirvāṇañca| saṃvṛtisatyaṃ yat prajñaptimātraṃ niḥsvabhāvam| yathā rūpādipratyayo ghaṭaḥ sidhyati| tathā pañcaskandhapratyayaḥ puruṣaḥ sidhyati| (pṛ) yadi paramārthato nāstīdam| lokasatyasya ka upayogaḥ| (u) laukikāḥ sattvā lokasatyamupādāyopayojayanti| kenedaṃ jñāyate| yathā citrito'gnirityuktau janāḥ śraddadhante| buddhā bhagavanto laukikānāṃ prajñaptito viyojanāya lokasatyena vyavaharanti| yathoktaṃ sūtre-nāhaṃ [bhikṣavo] lokena vivadāmi| lokaśca mayā vivadati| na [bhikṣavaḥ] dharmavādī [kenacilloke] vivadati| iti|

purā kila janā vastūpabhogakāmanayā vahuvastunāmutpattikāle ghaṭa ityādi nāma sthāpayāñcakruḥ| saddharme sati nopayogo labhyeta| ato lokasatyamityucyate| satyadvaya ukte bhagavataḥ śāsanaṃ suviśuddham| paramārthatastu vidvān na viśiṣyate| lokasatyato bālairna vivadante| satyadvayaṃ vadan na śāśvatoccheda [dṛṣṭau] patati| na patati mithyādṛṣṭau sukhānte duḥkhānte ca| karmavipākādi sarvaṃ sidhyet| lokasatyaṃ buddhānāṃ śāsanavinayamūlam| yaduta dānaśīlayorvipākaḥ susthāna upapattiḥ| anena dharmeṇa taccittaṃ damayitvā mārgaśāsanaṃ grāhayitvā paścātparamārthasatyamupadiśati| evaṃ jinaśāanamādāvagādhagabhīram-tadyathā mahāsamudraḥ kramaśo gabhīraḥ| ato lokasatyaṃ vadanti| yo mārgasya lābhajñānaṃ sādhayati [sa] paramārthadharmopadeśārho bhavati| yathā bhagavata evaṃ cetaḥ parivitarka udabhut-paripavkāḥ khalu rāhulasya [bhikṣoḥ] vimuktiparipacanīyā dharmāḥ yannūnamahaṃ rāhulaṃ uttara āsravānāṃ kṣaye vinayeyamiti| tadyathā ghrāṇapākaḥ tadvināśe sukhaṃ janane durbhedanam| evaṃ lokasatyena cittaṃ damayitvā'tha paramārthajñānena vināśayati| uktañca sūtre-dharmāṇāṃ pravicayapūrvakaṃ nirvāṇaṃ parijñātavyamiti| yogī pūrvaṃ dharmāḥ [kiṃ] prajñaptisantaḥ [kiṃ vā] paramārthasanta iti jñātvā paścānnirodhasatyaṃ sākṣātkaroti| kleśāḥ sthūlasūkṣmakrameṇa nirudhyante| yathā keśaromādinimittena strīpuruṣādinimittaṃ nirudhyate| rūpādininimittena keśaromādinimittaṃ nirudhyate| atha śūnyatādinimittena rūpādinimittaṃ nirudhyate| yathā kīlena kilo'panīyate| ato lokasatyamucyate|

lokasatyena madhyamā pratipatsādhyate| kasmāt| pañcaskandhāḥ santānena pravartanta iti nocchedaḥ| kṣaṇikā iti na śāśvataḥ| śāśvatocchedavinirmukta iti madhyamā pratipat| yathoktaṃ sūtre-lokasamudayaṃ paśyataḥ nāstīti dṛṣṭirna bhavati| lokanirodhaṃ paśyataḥ astīti dṛṣṭirna bhavati iti| ata ucyate lokasatyam| lokasatyato bhagavataḥ śāsanaṃ sarvaṃ satyameva yaduta astyātmā nāstyātmā ityādi paryāyāḥ| lokasatyato'styātmeti vadato nāstyavadyam| paramārthato nāstyātmeti vadataśca satyam|

lokasatyena pratidūṣaṇaṃ sthāpyate| paramārthatastu prativacanam| asti vastutaḥ sattva iti yā dṛṣṭiḥ ayaṃ mahāmohaḥ| nāstīti yadvacanaṃ tadapi mohatamasi pātayasi| kasmāt| iyaṃ bhāvābhāvadṛṣṭiḥ śāśvatocchedātmikā| yena yogino bhāvāntānnirgamya abhāvānte patanti| lokasatye'sati kena nirgamaṃ labheran| yadapratilabdhaśūnyatāprajño vadati nāsti sattva iti| iyaṃ mithyādṛṣṭiḥ| jananamaraṇavedakaḥ sattvo nāstīti vacanaṃ hi mithyādṛṣṭiḥ| yadi śūnyatābuddhipratilābhī vadati nāsti sattva iti| na tadā doṣaḥ| yathoktaṃ sūtre-arhantī bhikṣuṇī pāpīyāṃsaṃ māramavocat-

kiṃ nu sattva iti pratyeṣi māradṛṣṭigataṃ nu te|
śuddhasaṃskārapuñjo'yaṃ neha sattva upalabhyate|| iti|

kiñcāha-
kāyo'yaṃ skandhasantānaḥ śūnyaścāpyakiñcanaḥ|
māyāvat nirmitavaccāpi prākṛtānāmakṣimohanaḥ||
śalyavadgaṇḍavaccāpi sapatno'mitrahārakaḥ|
duḥkhaṃ śūnyo nirātmā ca jātivyayavināśanaḥ|| iti|

(pṛ) sarvasyāpi nāsti yatkiñcana cittam| kasmāt keṣāñcinmithyādṛṣṭirityucyate keṣāñcitparamārthadṛṣṭiriti| (u) yasya puruṣasya śūnyatātattvajñānaṃ notpannaṃ tasyāstyātmeti matirbhavati| ato nāstyātmeti śrutvaiva santrāsamutpādayati| yathāha bhagavān-ye bālāḥ pṛthagjanāḥ śūnyo nāstyātmā, na punaḥ karoti iti śrutavantaḥ te mahābhītā bhavanti| iti| ato jñāyate apratilabdhaśūnyatājñānaḥ astyātmeti matyā nirvāṇādbibheti| tadā mithyādṛṣṭirbhavati| pratilabdhaśunyatājñānastu nāsti mūlata āgatiriti prajānāti| tadā nāsti kiñcana bhayamiti| apratilabdhaśūnyatātattvo nāsti kiñcanetidṛ ṣṭyā durgatau patati yadutocchedadṛṣṭi[rūpa]mithyādṛṣṭiḥ| yo'yaṃ lokasatyato'styātmeti prajñāya asti karmaphalamiti śraddadhānaḥ paścāt saṃskārā anityā utpattinirodhalakṣaṇā iti bhāvayitvā nirodhaṃ sākṣātkaroti| [tasya] ātmabuddhyabhāve kāmacittaṃ nirudhyate| sa yadi nāsti kiñcaneti vacanaṃ śṛṇoti| tadā nāsti kaścana doṣaḥ| ata ucyate lokasatyam|

kecittīrthikā apavadanti śramaṇo gautamaḥ paramārthata ātmānaṃ dūṣayatīti| ato bhagavānāha- lokasatyato vadāmi asti sattva iti| samyagdṛṣṭiṃ prakāśayan vadāmi santi sattvāḥ sandhāvantaḥ saṃsaranta iti| iyaṃ samyagdṛṣṭiriti vadāmi| pṛthagjana mithyāmanaskārānniḥsattve vastusaditi vacanaṃ, tanmithyāmanaskārasya dūṣaṇam| na sattvasya dūṣaṇam| yathā ghaṭādayaḥ prajñaptyocyante| tatra na rūpādayo ghaṭāḥ| na rūpādivyatirikto ghaṭaḥ| evaṃ na rūpādayaḥ skandhāḥ sattvaḥ| nāpi rūpādivyatiriktaḥ sattvaḥ| yathā rūpādīnupādāya prajñaptimatikrāmati| evaṃ nirodhalakṣaṇena rūpādīnatikrāmati| dṛṣṭāntenārthaḥ suvibhajyate| yathā citritaḥ pradīpaḥ pradīpa ityukto'pi na pradipavṛttiko bhavati| evaṃ ghaṭo'stīti kathito'pi na vastusan bhavati| santi pañcaskandhā ityuktā api na paramārthāḥ||

(pṛ) kathaṃ ghaṭādayaḥ prajñaptitaḥ santi na vastutaḥ| (u) (1) prajñaptau nimittapradarśanamasti na paramārthe| yathā vadanti idaṃ rūpaṃ idaṃ ghaṭarūpamiti| na vaktuṃ śakyata [idaṃ] rūparūpamiti| nāpi vaktuṃ śakyata idaṃ vedanādirūpamiti| (2) pradīpo rūpasahagamāt prajvalatīti [vadanti] sparśasahagamātpradahatīti| paramārthadharmastu naivaṃ dṛśyate| kasmāt| vijñānaṃ nānyasahagamādvijānātīti| vedanā'pi nānyasahagamādvedayata iti| ato jñāyate sahabhāvaḥ prajñaptisanniti| (3) anyadharmamupādāya prajñaptisan sidhyati| yathā rūpādīnupādāya ghaṭaḥ| paramārthadharmastu nānyadharmamupādāya sidhyati| kasmāt| yathā vedanā nānyadharmamupādāya sidhyati| (4) prajñaptiśca nānādharmavatī| yathā pradīpaḥ prakāśate pradahati ca| naivaṃ dṛśyate paramārthadharmaḥ| kasmāt| yathā vedanā na vedayate vijānāti ca| (5) rathaśabdo rathāṅgādiṣu bhavati| rūpādiśabdastu na padārthe vartata| ityevaṃ vibhāgaḥ| rathāṅgādayo rathasādhanāḥ pratyayāḥ| na tatrāsti rathaśabdaḥ| tathā ca rathakāraṇe nāsti rathadharmaḥ| tadupādāya tu rathaḥ sidhyati| ato jñāyate rathaḥ prajñaptiriti| (6) rūpādiśabdenoktā rūpādayo labhyante| ghaṭādiśabdenoktā ghaṭādayastu na labhyante| ato jñāyate ghaṭādayaḥ prajñaptaya iti| (7) prajñaptau cittaṃ vikṣipati, na samādadhāti| yathā kaścidaśvaṃ dṛṣṭvā vadati-aśvaṃ paśyāmīti| kaścidaśvakāyaṃ paśyāmīti| kaściccarma paśyāmīti| kaścidromāṇi vā paśyāmīti| kaścidvadati vīṇāśabdaṃ śṛṇomīti| kaścit tantrīnādaṃ śṛṇomīti| kaścidvadati kusumaṃ jighrāmīti| kaścitkusumagandhaṃ jighrāmīti| kaścidvadati surāṃ pibāmīti| kaścitsurārasaṃ pibāmīti| kaścidvadati puruṣaṃ spṛśāmīti, kaścit puruṣakāyaṃ spṛśāmīti, kaścit puruṣabhujaṃ spṛśāmiti, kaścit puruṣahastaṃ spṛśāmīti, kaścit puruṣasyāṅguliṃ spṛśāmīti, kaścit puruṣasyāṅguliparva spṛśāmiti| manovijñānamapi sattvādau vikṣipati yaduta kāyaḥ sattvaḥ cittaṃ sattva iti| evaṃ rūpādaya eva ghaṭa athavā rūpādivyatirikto ghaṭa ityādi| paramārthavacane tu cittaṃ samādadhāti na vikṣipati| rūpaṃ paśyāmīti [vat] śabdamapi paśyāmīti na vaktuṃ śakyate|

(8) jñeyādau [sarva]mavyapadeśyamapi astītyucyate| [yat vyapadiśyate] iyaṃ prajñaptiḥ yathā ghaṭādayaḥ| ato jñāyate ghaṭādayaḥ prajñaptisanta iti| kasmāt| rūpādayo dharmā jñeyādāvanabhidheyā iti na vyapadiśyante| yathā rūpādayaḥ svalakṣaṇena vyavadeśyāḥ| na ghaṭādayaḥ svalakṣaṇena vyapadiśyante| ata ime prajñaptisanta iti jñāyate| (9) kecit astīti prajñaptilakṣaṇaṃ vadanti| idaṃ lakṣaṇamanyatra vartate na prajñaptau| yathoktaṃ sūtre-karma viduṣo'viduṣaśca lakṣaṇamiti| yaḥ kāyavāṅmanobhiḥ kuśalaṃ karoti sa vidvān| yaḥ kāyavāṅmanobhirakuśalaṃ karma karoti so'vidvān| kāyavākkarma catvāri mahābhūtānyupādāya tiṣṭhati| mānasaṃ karma cittamāśrayate| imāni trīṇi kathaṃ viduṣo'viduṣaśca lakṣaṇam| ato jñāyate nāsti prajñapteḥ svalakṣaṇam| (10) prajñaptilakṣaṇamanyatra vartamānamapi na punarekam| yathoktam-śalyaviddha iva rūpyate iti| rūpyata iti rūpalakṣaṇam| vedayata iti vedanālakṣaṇe puruṣa ucyate| yathāha bhagavān-vidvān mūḍhaśca sarvaḥ sukhaṃ duḥkhaṃ vedayate| vidvān sukhe duḥkhe na kāmamutpādayati| bahvādinimittodgrahaṇaṃ saṃjñālakṣaṇamityapi puruṣa evocyate| yathāha-prabhāmahaṃ paśyāmi rūpamahaṃ paśyāmīti| [saṃskṛta]mabhisaṃskarotīti saṃskāralakṣaṇe'pi puruṣa evocyate| yathāha-ayaṃ puruṣapudgalaḥ puṇyopagaṃ saṃskāramabhisaṃskaroti| apuṇyopagaṃ saṃskāramabhisaṃskaroti| āneñjyopagaṃ saṃskāramabhisaṃskarotīti| vijānātīti vijñānalakṣaṇe'pi puruṣa evocyate| yathāha-[kṣipraṃ] dharmaṃ vijānāti vijño jihvā sūparasaṃ yathā| iti| ato yadanyatragatamuktamapi bahulakṣaṇamucyate| idaṃ prajñaptilakṣaṇam| rūpādi[sva] lakṣaṇaṃ nānyatragataṃ nāpi bahulakṣaṇam|

(11) yo dharmaḥ sarveṣāmanuśayakaraḥ sa prajñaptisan| paramārthadharmastu nānuśayakaraḥ| anuśayā hi puruṣaṃ kurvanti| (12) prajñaptau ca na jñānotpādo bhavati| purovartirūpādiṣu jñānotpādo bhavati| taduttaraṃ manovijñānena vikalpayati ghaṭamahaṃ paśyāmītyādi| ghaṭasya jñānamavaśyaṃ rūpādyapekṣam| kasmāt| rūparasagandhasparśānupādāya hi ayaṃ ghaṭa iti vyavahāraḥ| paramārthajñānantu na yatkiñcidapekṣya bhavati|

(13) prajñaptau ca bhavati saṃśayaḥ yathā sthāṇurvā puruṣo vā iti| rūpādiṣu tu na saṃśayo bhavati rūpaṃ vā kiṃ vā śabda iti| (pṛ) rūpādāvapi saṃśayo bhavati kimasti rūpaṃ kiṃ vā nāsti rūpamiti| (u) nedaṃ yuktam| rūpaṃ paśyan naiva saṃśete ayaṃ śabda iti| anyasmāt kāraṇāt saṃśayo bhavati kimasti rūpaṃ kiṃ vā nāsti rūpamiti| yathā rūpaṃ śūnyamiti śrutvā punā rūpaṃ paśyan saṃśete kimasti kiṃ vā nāstīti| nirodhasatyaṃ paśyato'yaṃ saṃśayaḥ prahīyate| (pṛ) nirodhasatye'pi saṃśayo bhavati kimasti nirodhaḥ kiṃ vā nāsti nirodha iti| (u) abhiniviṣṭeṣu saṃśayo bhavati na tu nirodhasatye| asti nirodha iti mataṃ nāsti nirodha iti matañca yaḥ śṛṇoti tasya bhavati saṃśayaḥ kimasti kiṃ vā nāstīti| sa tadā na nirodhasatyaṃ paśyati| kasmāt| nirodhasatyaṃ paśyato na punaḥ saṃśayo bhavati| ato jñāyate saṃśayotpādasthale prajñaptirasti|

(14) ekasmin vastuni bahuvijñaptyutpattilābhe prajñaptirasti| yathā ghaṭādau| paramārthadharme tu na tathā| kasmāt| rūpādau na bhavanti śrotrādivijñaptayaḥ| (15) bahvāyatanasaṅgṛhītaṃ prajñaptisat| yathā ghaṭādayaḥ| ataḥ kecidvadanti prajñaptisat caturmahābhūtasaṅgṛhītam| paramārthadharmastu na bahvāyatanasaṅgrahaṃ labhate| (16) yat niḥsvabhāvaṃ sat kriyāsamarthaṃ bhavati| idaṃ prajñaptisat| yathā puruṣaḥ karotīti| puruṣasvabhāvaḥ karmasvabhāvaśca na paramārtha upalabhyate| snehadveṣādivikalpo yaḥ kaścana sa sarvaḥ prajñaptisan| na paramārthasan| kasmāt| rūpādidharmāṇāṃ sākṣāddarśane na snehadveṣādisaṃjñotpadyate| (17) gamyate āgamyata ityādi, ucchidyate vinaśyati ityādi, dāhyate pradāhyate ityādi yā kācana kriyā sarvā sā prajñaptisatī| na paramārthasatī| kasmāt| paramārthadharmāsyādāhyatvāt| avināśyatvāt| puṇyapāpādikarma sarvaṃ prajñaptisat| kasmāt| prāṇātipātādi pāpaṃ prāṇātipātaviratyādi puṇyaṃ sarvaṃ na paramārthasat| (18) prajñaptisadāpekṣikam-yathā idaṃ, tat, guru laghu, dīrghaṃ hrasvaṃ, mahadalpaṃ, ācāryaḥ antevāsī, pitā putraḥ ārya anārya ityādi| paramārthastu nāpekṣikaḥ| kasmāt| rūpaṃ nānyapadārthamapekṣya śabdādīn sādhayatīti| na śūnyatayā prajñaptikhaṇḍanaṃ prajñaptisat| yathā vṛkṣān niśritya vanaṃ khaṇḍyate| mūlakāṇḍaṃ niśritya vṛkṣaḥ khaṇḍayate| rūpādi niśritya mūlakāṇḍaṃ khaṇḍyate| tathā śūnyatayā yat khaṇḍanaṃ tattu paramārthasat| yathā rūpādi śūnyatayā khaṇḍyate|

(19) śūnyatācāryāyatanānuvartanaṃ prajñaptisat| nairātmyacaryāyatanānuvartanantu paramārthasat| (20) santi catvāro vādāḥ- ekatvaṃ, nānātvaṃ, anirvacanīyatvaṃ, abhāva iti| ete catvāro vādāḥ sāvadyāḥ| ato jñāyate ghaṭādayaḥ prajñaptisanta iti|

ekatvam-rūparasagandhasparśā eva ghaṭa iti| nānātvam rūpādīn vihāyānyo'sti ghaṭa iti| anirvacanīyatvam-rūpādaya eva vā ghaṭaḥ kiṃ vā tadvayatirikto ghaṭa iti na nirvaktuṃ śakyate| abhāvaḥ-nāstyayaṃ ghaṭa iti| ime catvāro vādā ayuktāḥ| ato jñāyate ghaṭaḥ prajñaptiriti|

prajñaptilakṣaṇavargo dvicatvāriṃśaduttaraśatatamaḥ|

143 ekatvakhaṇḍanavargaḥ

(pṛ) eṣāmekatvādīnāṃ caturṇāṃ vādānāṃ ke doṣāḥ| (u) ekatvavāde doṣo yaduta rūpādīnāṃ dharmāṇāṃ lakṣaṇaṃ pratyekaṃ vibhaktam| yadi ghaṭa ekaḥ, tadā na sambhavati| rūpādīni naikaikaṃ pṛthivīdhāturityucyante| tatsamavāyaḥ kathaṃ pṛthivī bhavet| kasmāt| yadyekaiko'śvo na gaurbhavati| tatsamavāyaḥ kathaṃ gaurbhavet| (pṛ) yathā ekaikaṃ tilaṃ na kalāpaṃ sādhayati| tatsamavāyastu sādhayati| evaṃ rūpādīnyekaikaṃ na pṛthivīṃ sādhayanti| tatsamavāyastu sādhayati| (u) na yujyate| kasmāt| tilakalāpaḥ prajñaptisan| ekatvādi tu paramārthadharme vicāryate| iti kathaṃ dṛṣṭāntaḥ syāt|

guṇānāñca na lakṣaṇaṃ pradarśayituṃ śakyate| rūpaṃ gandhavaditi na vaktuṃ śakyate| rūparasagandhasparśavatī pṛthivī iti tu vaktuṃ śakyate| ato naikatvamiti| rūpādibuddhiḥ pṛthivībuddhiśca pṛthak| ato jñāyate rūpādīni na pṛthivīti| anyadrūpādīnāṃ nāma anyat pṛthivyā nāma| (pṛ) buddhibhedo nāmabhedaśca sarvaḥ saṃyoge bhedavān| (u) yadi buddhirnāmasaṃyogamātreṇāsti| [tadā] saṃyogo nāmamātraṃ bhavet| tathā ca pṛthivī nāmamātramasti| iti nāstyekatvavādaḥ|

pṛthivī sa sarvendriyajñeyā bhavati| kenedaṃ jñāyate| puruṣa evaṃ cintayati-pṛthivīṃ paśyāmi, pṛthivīṃ rasayāmi, pṛthivīṃ spṛśāmi iti| yadi rūparasagandhasparśāḥ pṛthivī| na syāt rūpamātre pṛthivīṃ paśyāmīti pṛthivīsaṃjñā| gandhādāvapyevam| vastutastu na rūpamātre pṛthivī jñāyate| ato jñāyate na rūpādīnyeva pṛthivīti| prajñaptisaṃjñākāraṇe ekasminnavayave ca prajñaptisaṃjñā'bhidhīyate| yathā kaścid vṛkṣaśākhāṃ chindan vadati-vṛkṣaṃ chindāmi, vanaṃ chindāmīti ca| guṇānāṃ sīmāni dravyāṇi anyāni| tatra yadyasti kāraṇam| nānena sidhyati ekatvavādaḥ|

pṛthivyādipṛthagdharmasya nendriyaṃ jñāpakam| ato jñāyate na pṛthak santi pṛthivyādayo dharmā iti| (pṛ) pṛthivyādayo dvīndriyagrāhyā yaduta kāyendriyagrāhyāścakṣurindriyagrāhyāḥ| kena tat jñāyate| cakṣuṣā dṛṣṭvā jānīmo'yaṃ ghaṭa iti| kāyendriyeṇa spṛṣṭvāpi jānīmaḥ ayaṃ ghaṭa iti| ato nendriyagrāhyā iti bhavato vacanamayuktam| (u) tathā cet ghaṭo'yamindriyacatuṣṭayagrāhyaḥ syāt| ghrāṇenāpi mṛta jighryate| rasanayāpi mṛt rasyate| (pṛ) ghrāṇarasanābhyāṃ na gṛhṇāti ghaṭam| kasmāt| na hyandhakāre vivecayati ghaṭo vā jighrayate kapālaṃ vā| ghaṭo vā rasyate kapālaṃ vā iti| (u) yadyapi na vivecayati kiṃ ghaṭa uta kapālamiti| tathāpi mṛdi jñānaṃ bhavati mṛdaṃ jighrāmi, mṛdaṃ rasayāmīti| yadi ghaṭa udgatamukhaṃ khanyate| tadā dṛṣṭvā spṛṣṭvā vā na nirdhārayati kimayaṃ ghaṭa śarāvaḥ kiṃ vā ghataśakalamiti| ato jñāyate cakṣurindriyaṃ kāyendriyañca na ghaṭaṃ gṛhṇīyāt iti| andhakāre ghaṭabuddhirutpannā'pi na vivecayati suvarṇaghaṭo rajataghaṭo vā iti| ato jñāyate cakṣurindriyaṃ kāyendriyamapi na ghaṭaṃ gṛhṇīyāt| ghrāṇendriyaṃ jihvendriyaṃ puṣpaphalakṣīrasurādīn dharmān gṛhṇāti| cakṣurindriyaṃ kāyendriyantu na gṛhṇāti| yathā [cakṣuḥ] puṣpādi paśyati na vivicya jānāti gandhaḥ surabhirasurabhirvā raso madhuro'madhuro vā ityādi| ato yadi mataṃ cakṣuḥkāyendriyābhyāṃ jānīmo dravyaṃ na ghrāṇajihvābhyāmiti| nedaṃ sambhavati| yathā ghrāṇajihve dravyaṃ pṛthakkṛtya na vikalpayataḥ| tathā cakṣuḥkāyendriye api dravyamapṛthagbhūtamapi na vikalpayataḥ|

pañcendriyeṣu prajñaptigrāhakaṃ jñānaṃ nāsti| ato jñāyate prajñaptirna cakṣuḥkāyaghrāṇajihvendriyairlabhyate| ṣaṣṭhasya tvasti prajñaptijñāpakaṃ jñānam| kasmāt| manovijñānasya sarvadharmālambanatvāt| cakṣuryadi rūpaṃ paśyati arupañca paśyati| tadā śabdādīnamapi paśyet| tathā cet śrotrādīnīndriyāṇi nāvaśyakāni syuḥ| na tu sambhavati| ataścakṣuḥkāyendriyābhyāṃ na dravyaṃ gṛhyate| (pṛ) rūpeṇa dravyopalabdhau cakṣuḥ paśyati| na tu sarvo rūpātpṛthagbhūto dharmo dṛśyaḥ| (u) rūpeṇa ghaṭopalabdhiritīdaṃ na yujyate| kasmāt| kaḥ karoti ghaṭarūpam| saṃyogamātramidam| ato na rūpeṇa ghaṭopalabdhiḥ| yadi ca dṛśyadharmeṇa tadanyadharma upalabhya dṛśyo bhavati| ghaṭādinādṛśyadharmeṇa rupolabdhiriti rūpamapi adṛśyaṃ syāt| ghaṭo'pi dvividhaḥ syāt dṛśyo'dṛśya iti| dṛśyadharmasyādṛśyopalabdhyarthatvāt| yadyavaśyaṃ rūpādidharmasyopalabdhatvāt cakṣurādīndrayagrāhyamiti| [tadā] rūpalakṣaṇaṃ cakṣurindriyagrāhyamiti na syāt| kasmāt| bhavatāṃ sūtre rūpamupādāya (=rūpahetukaṃ) indriyeṇa rūpaṃ dṛśyamitīdaṃ rūpalakṣaṇaṃ punaralakṣaṇaṃ bhavati| tathā tu rūpalakṣaṇamadṛśyamiti syāt| ato na yujyate|

yadi rūpopalabdhyā dṛśyamiti| [tarhi] sarvāṇīndriyāṇi dravyaṃ jānīyuḥ| śrotrendriyamapi ākāśaṃ jānīyāt śabdopalambhāt| kāyendriyeṇa vāyuṃ jānīyāt sparśopalambhāt| bhavatāṃ mate tu na yujyate| ato nedaṃ dharmamupalambhayati| (pṛ) anye dharmā nopalabdhikarāḥ| rūpamātramupalabdhikaram| (u) maivam| na tatrāsti vinigamanā rūpamātramupalabdhikaraṃ nānye dharmā iti| yathā bhavānāha mahatyanekadravyavattvāt rūpāccopalabdhiriti| evaṃ rūpahetukaṃ rūpamupalabhyate| rūpalakṣaṇopalambhena rūpaṃ taduttaramupalabhyam| na rūpamātramupalabdhikaramiti| evamukte['pi] na pūrvoktadoṣaparihāraḥ|

anyakālaṃ rūpabuddhirutpadyate anyakālañca ghaṭabuddhiḥ| ato rūpāt ghaṭopalambhe ka upakāraḥ| yathā andho'bhyastaghaṭaparimāṇo vinaṣṭacakṣuṣko'pi spṛṣṭvā ghaṭaṃ jānāti| ato na rūpamātraṃ darśanasya kāraṇam| andhaḥ kāyendriyeṇa ca vāyuṃ jānāti| ato na rūpamātropalambhāt jñānamutpadyate| bhavatāṃ sūtre'pyuktam-kāyāgataspṛṣṭaḥ sparśo na pṛthivyaptejasāṃmiti jñātavyam-adṛṣṭaliṅgo vāyuriti| tadapyayuktam| kasmāt| andha imaṃ vāyuṃ jānannapi na jānāti vāyurayaṃ kiṃ dṛśyaḥ kiṃvā adṛśya iti| puruṣaścakṣuṣā saṃkhyāparimāṇādīn dharmān paśyati| na tatrāsti rūpopalabdhiḥ| gandhamāghrāyāpi agandhadharme jñānaṃ labhate| rasaṃ rasayitvā'pi arasadharme jñānaṃ labhate| ato'vaśyaṃ rūpolambhena dravyaṃ tadūrdhva jñeyamitīdamayuktam|

(pṛ) yadi rūpopalambho darśanasya na kāraṇam| ye saṃkhyāparimāṇādayo dharmāḥ[te] adṛśyadravyagatāḥ, vāyuśca dṛśyaḥ syāt| (u) asmanmate rūpaṃ vihāya nāstyanyo dharmo dṛśyaḥ| ato jñāyate mate['smin] yatra rūpamutpannamasti tatra cakṣuḥ paśyati| cakṣuṣā dṛṣṭarūpasyaiva ghaṭasaṃjñā bhavati| yasmin dharme nāstyutpannaṃ rūpam, tatra sacakṣuṣkasyāpi notpadyate'nyaghaṭasaṃjñā| ato rūpadi vihāya pṛthagasti ghaṭa itīdaṃ na nyāyyam||

(pṛ) anirvacanīyatve ke doṣāḥ| paramārthadharmo naikatvanānātvābhyāmanirvacanīyaḥ| kasmāt| na hetudṛṣṭāntau staḥ idamanirvacanīyamiti jñāpayitum| rūpādayo dharmāḥ paramārthasantaḥ| ato nānirvacanīyāḥ| dharmāḥ pratyekaṃ sasvalakṣaṇāḥ| yathā rūpaṇalakṣaṇaṃ rūpam| na nānātvalakṣaṇam| kathamucyate'nirvacanīyamiti| vijñānaviśeṣāddharmaviśeṣaḥ| yathā cakṣurvijñānena rūpaṃ jñāyate, na śabdādi| ato'sya nānirvacanīyatā| rūpaṃ rūpāyatanasaṅgṛhītaṃ na śabdādisaṅgṛhītam| yadyanirvacanīyatvamicchasi| idaṃ rūpamidaṃ rūpamiti nirvacanīyamasti| rūpamidamarūpamidamiti anirvacanīyam| evaṃ śabdādayo'pi| dharmāṇāṃ kramaḥ saṃkhyā cāsti| yadyanirvācyāḥ| tadā dharmā asaṃkhyāḥ syuḥ| kasmāt| prathamaṃ dvitīyamiti lakṣaṇabhedasyābhāvāt| ato jñāyate paramārthato nānirvācyāḥ dharmāḥ prajñaptāveva ekatvanānātvasatvāducyate'nirvācya iti||

(pṛ) abhāvavāde ke doṣāḥ| (u) abhāvatve na puṇyapāpādīnāṃ vipāko vimuktyādayaḥ sarve dharmāḥ| vidyamānaṃ nāstīti grahe sa graho'pi abhāvaḥ syāt| vaktuḥ śrotuścābhāvāt| asti nāstīti vādāḥ śraddhayoktāḥ pratyakṣajñānaśraddhayā vā bhavanti anumitijñānaśraddhayā vā bhavanti| sūtramranthānusāreṇa vā bhavanti| yatkiñcana nāstīti yat vacanaṃ tadeṣu triṣu na bhavati| sūtraṃ vānusarāma iti bhavatāmāśayo[yaḥ] nāyaṃ yujyate| sūtrāśayo'pi duḥsaṃvādaḥ| kadācidastītyāha kadācinnāstītyāha| kathaṃ śraddhāṃ gṛhṇīmaḥ| yadyanumānajñānaṃ śraddadhyāt| avaśyaṃ pratyakṣapūrvakamanumitijñānaṃ bhavet| ghaṭādayo dharmā idānīṃ pratyakṣadṛṣṭāḥ santi| jñānajanakatvāt| yo jñānajanakaḥ dharmo'sti nābhāva[rūpaḥ]|

idānīṃ ghaṭaśarāvādayaḥ saviśeṣā dṛśyante| yadi sarve'bhāvāḥ| kaḥ saviśeṣaḥ syāt| mithyāsaṃjñayā saviśeṣā iti bhavatāṃ matam| kasmāt ākāśe ghaṭādīn na vikalpayati| mohātpadārthabuddhirutpadyata iti bhavatāṃ matam| sarveṣāmabhāvatve moho'pyabhāvaḥ syāditi kena pravarteta| sarve dharmā abhāvā iti bhavata āśaye jñānamidaṃ kiṃ pratītya bhavati| na hi jñānānyabhāvapratyayenotpadyante| padārthān jānātīti jñānam| nedaṃ jñānamabhāva iti vācyam| yadyatyantābhāvā iti| tadā sarve janā yathābhipretaṃ yatkiñcana kuryuḥ| kintvāryā dānaśīlakṣāntyādikuśalakarmābhiratā akuśaladharmaviviktāśca bhavanti| ato jñāyate nābhāvā iti| ghaṭādayo dharmāḥ pratyakṣajñeyāḥ| bhavāṃstvāha-pratyakṣaṃ sarvamabhāvarūpamiti| abhāvadharmakatvācca na sūtre śraddadhīta| tathā ca kena kāraṇenāha-sarvamabhāva iti| ataḥ sarvamabhāva itīdaṃ[na] spaṣṭaṃ bhavet| yadi kāraṇena na prakāśayati [tadā] paragṛhītaṃ prakṛtitaḥ sidhyet| paravādasya siddhatvāt bhavatāṃ dharmo vinaśyet| yo bhāvaḥ kāraṇena sādhyaḥ na so'bhāva ityucyate||

abhāvavādyāha-yadyapi vacasā śūnyatāṃ khaṇḍayasi| tathāpi dharmāṃḥ paramārthato'bhāvāḥ| indriyairviṣayāṇāmanupalambhāt| kasmāt| na hyasti dharmāṇāmavayavī grāhyaḥ| ataḥ sarve dharmā agrāhyāḥ| agrāhyādabhāvā[tmakāḥ]| avayavinyagrāhye'pi avayavā grāhyā iti bhavato yanmatam| tanna yuktam| nāvayaveṣu buddhirbhavati| kasmāt| sthūlaghaṭādīnāṃ padārthānāmeva grāhyatvāt| na cāvayavā avayavinaṃ kurvanti| kasmāt| avayavinamupādāya hi avayavā ucyante| avayavino'bhāvādavayavā api na santi| dravyeṣu guṇeṣu asatsu nāvayavāḥ santi| ato na santyavayavāḥ| sūkṣmāvayavān paśyato'vayavabuddhiḥ sadā bhavati na ghaṭabuddhiḥ| kasmāt| avayavān nityaṃ smarato ghaṭabuddhirnaiva bhavet| yadyavayavasmaraṇapūrvakaṃ ghaṭabuddhirbhavati| tadā ghaṭabuddhirvilambya bhavet| na vastuto vilambya bhavati| ato nāvayavāḥ smaryante| ghaṭaṃ dṛṣṭvā yannāvayavavikalpabuddhirbhavati saiva ghaṭabuddhiḥ|

sarve cāvayavā abhāvā[tmakāḥ]ḥ| kasmāt| sarvehyavayavā avayavaśo bhidyamānā aṇutāṃ yānti| aṇuśo bhidyamānā atyantābhāvatāṃ pratiyanti| sarveṣāṃ dharmāṇāṃ niṣṭhā śūnyatābuddhijananamavaśyam| ato'vayavāḥ paramārthato'bhāvatmakāḥ| avayavavādinaḥ satyadvayabhaṅgaḥ syāt| kasmāt| yo vadati nāstyavayavī kevalamavayavāḥ santīti| tasyātītāgāmidarśanaprahāṇādīni karmāṇi na syuḥ| evañca lokasatyaṃ nāsti| bhavān paramārthaṃ śūnyatāṃ manyate| paramārthe cābhāvātmakā avayavāḥ| ato jñāyate avayavamātravacanaṃ na satyadvaye'vatārayati| satyadvaye'navatārādabhāvaḥ|

yo dharmo'paneyaḥ so'bhābātmakaḥ| yathā avayavānupādāya avayavī nirākriyate| avayavāntarāṇyupādāya pūrvāvayavā nirākriyante| ato'yamavayavavādo'bhāvātmakaḥ| rūpādīnyapi abhāvātmakāni| kasmāt| na hi cakṣuḥ sūkṣmaṃ rūpaṃ paśyati| na ca mano gṛhṇāti pratyutpannaṃ rūpam| ato rūpamagrāhyam| cakṣurvijñānaṃ na vikalpayati idaṃ rūpamiti| manovijñānantu atīte anāgate vartate na rūpe vartate| ato nāsti kiñcidrūpavikalpakam vikalpakābhāvādrūpamagrāhyaṃ bhavati| nādyavijñānaṃ rūpaṃ vikalpayati| tathā dvitīyādivijñānānyapi| ato nāsti kiñcidrūpavikalpakam|

(pṛ) cakṣurvijñānena rūpe gṛhīte tato manovijñānamanusmarati| ato na nāsti vikalpakamiti| (u) cakṣurvijñānaṃ rūpaṃ dṛṣṭvā niruddhameva| tata ūrdhvaṃ manovijñānamutpadyate| manovijñānamidaṃ na rūpaṃ paśyati| adṛṣṭvā kathamanusmaret| yadyadṛṣṭvā'nusmaret| andho'pi rūpamanusmaret| na vastuto'nusmarati| ato manovijñānaṃ nānusmarati| (pṛ) cakṣurvijñānānmanovijñānamutpadyate| ato'nusmarati| (u) maivam| kasmāt| sarvāṇi caramacittāni cakṣurvijñānamupādāya samutpannāni anusmareyuḥ| naiva vismareyuḥ| tasmādutpannatvāt| na vastuto yujyate| ato jñāyate manovijñānamapi nānusmarati| yathākāśānusmaraṇam, rūpaghaṭādigrahaḥ| sarve'pi padārthastucchā abhāvātmakāḥ mṛṣāgṛhītāḥ| ataḥ sarve padārthā abhāvātmakāḥ|

yadi vadasi cakṣuḥ paśyatīti| kiṃ rūpaṃ prāpya paśyati kiṃ vā'prāpya paśyati| yadi prāpya [paśyatīti] tadā na paśyati| cakṣurnātītalakṣaṇamitīdaṃ pūrvameva pratipāditam| yadyaprāpya paśyatīti| tadā sarvasthaṃ rūpaṃ paśyet| na vastutaḥ paśyati| ato jñāyate nāprāpya paśyatīti| (pṛ) rūpaṃ jñānagocaragataṃ cakṣuḥ paśyati| (u) ko nāma jñānagocaraḥ| (pṛ) yasmin kāle cakṣuḥ paśyati| [sa]jñānagocaraḥ ityucyate| (u) yadi cakṣuraprāptamapi jñānagocara ityucyate sarvasthaṃ rūpaṃ jñānagocaraḥ syāt| ataḥ prāpyāprāpyobhayathā na paśyati| ato jñāyate rūpamadṛśyamiti| yadi sati pūrvameva cakṣuṣi rūpe ca paścāccakṣurvijñānamutpadyate| tadedaṃ cakṣurvijñānaṃ nirāśrayaṃ niṣpratyayañca syāt| yadyekakāla [mutpadyate] tadā na cakṣūrūpapratyayaṃ cakṣurvijñānamityākhyāyate| aikakālikayormitho hetutvābhāvāt|

manovijñānamapi dharmānna gṛhṇāti| kasmāt| manovijñānaṃ hi na pratyutpannān rūparasagandhasparśān gṛhṇāti| [yat] atītamanāgataṃ tannāstīti pūrvamuktameva| ato manovijñānaṃ na rūpādīn gṛhṇāti| (pṛ) yadi manovijñānaṃ rūpādīn dharmān na jānāti| svātmānaṃ [vā] jānīyāt| (u) na [kaścit] dharmaḥ svātmānaṃ jānāti| kasmāt| na pratyutpanne svātmavedanaṃ sambhavati| tadyathā asi[dhārā] na svātmānaṃ chinatti| atītānāgatayorasaddharmatvāt nānyaccittamasti| ato manovijñānaṃ na khātmānaṃ vijānāti|

(pṛ) yadi kaścit paracittaṃ jānāti| tadā tanmanovijñānaṃ caittadharmaṃ jānātyeva| (u) yathā kasyacit cittaṃ svātmānamajñātvā'pi cintā bhavati ahaṃ cittavāniti| evaṃ paracitte'pi| yo'nāgatadharmo'bhāva[rūpaḥ] so'pi jñānajanakaḥ| paracittamapyevamiti cetko doṣaḥ| dharmālambanaṃ mana iti [mataṃ] bahudhā duṣṭam| yathā manaḥ prāpyālambate vijānāti| [vā] aprāpyālambate| manaśca na rūpādīnanusmaret| ebhirdoṣairna manovijñānaṃ dharmān vijānāti||

abhāvavādyāha-yadyasti phalam| hetau pūrvaṃ san vā guṇa utpadyeta| pūrvamasan[vā] guṇa utpadyeta| ubhayathā cāsti doṣaḥ| yathā dvayorhastayoḥ pūrvamasan śabdo bhavati| dadhihetau pūrvamasat dadhi, dadhi utpādayati| śakaṭahetau pūrvamasamat śakaṭaṃ, śakaṭamutpādayati| ato na hetau pūrvaṃ san guṇaḥ phalamutpādayati|

bhavato yadi mataṃ hetau pūrvamasan guṇaḥ phalamutpādayatīti| tadā rūparahitavāyusūkṣmareṇū rūpamutpādayet| tathā cet vāyū rūpavān syāt| vajrādīnāṃ gandhavattā syāt| dṛṣṭe paśyāmaḥ khalu śuklatantuḥ śuklapaṭaṃ sādhayati| kṛṣṇatantuḥ kṛṣṇapaṭaṃ sādhayati| yadi hetau pūrvamasan guṇaḥ phalaṃ sādhayati| kasmāt śuklatantuḥ śukla[paṭa]meva sādhayati na kṛṣṇam| ato na hetau pūrvamasan guṇaḥ phalamutpādayati|

imau dvāvapi dṛṣṭāntau duṣṭau| ato nāsti phalam| yadi hetau satkāryam, tadā notpadyeta| kathaṃ sadutpadyeta| yadyasat| tadapi notpadyeta| asatkathamutpadyeta| (pṛ) dṛṣṭe paśyāmaḥ khalu ghaṭaṃ kiyamāṇam kathaṃ nāsti ghaṭa iti| (u) ghaṭo'yaṃ pūrvamakṛtaḥ kathaṃ karaṇīyaḥ| tasyaivābhāvāt| yadi pūrvaṃ kṛta eva| kathaṃ karaṇīyaḥ| tasya sattvāt| (pṛ) kriyamāṇaḥ kriyata ityucyate| (u) nāsti kriyamāṇam| kasmāt| yaḥ kṛtabhāgaḥ sa kṛtakoṭau patati| yo'kṛtabhāgaḥ [so]'kṛtakoṭau patati| ato nāsti kriyamāṇam| yadi ghaṭaḥ kriyāvān, atīto'nāgataḥ pratyutpanno vā syāt| atīto na kriyāvān| niruddhatvāt| anāgato na kriyāvān asattvāt| pratyutpanno'pi na kriyāvān, bhūyamānatvāt|

kārakamupādāya kriyāvataḥ karma sidhyati| tatra kāraka eva vastuto nopalabhyate| tathā hi| śīrṣādyavayaveṣu kriyāvṛttyabhāvānnāsti kārakaḥ| kārakābhāvāt kriyāvṛttirapi nāsti| hetuḥ kāryasya pūrvaṃ vā, kiṃ vā paścāt, kiṃ vā samakālam, sarvathā na yujyate| kasmāt| yadi pūrvaṃ hetuḥ paścātkāryam| hetau niruddhe kena phalamutpadyeta yathā avidyamānaḥ pitā kathaṃ putramutpādayet| yadi paścāddhetuḥ pūrvaṃ phalam| hetuḥ svayamanutpannaḥ kathaṃ phalamutpādayet| yathā anutpannaḥ pitā kaḥ putramutpādayati| yadi hetuḥ phalañca samakālam na tarhi ayaṃ nyāyaḥ| yathā dve śṛṅge yugapadudbhūte nocyete vāmadakṣiṇe'nyonyahetuke| siddhāntā ime trayo'pi ayuktāḥ| ato nāsti phalam|

phalamidaṃ yadi kriyācittapūrvakaṃ syāt, yadi vā'kriyācittapūrvakaṃ syāt| yadi kriyācittapurvakam| garbhe'pi bālānāṃ cakṣurādikāyāvayaveṣu kaḥ sacittatvaṃ karoti| īśvarādayo'pi na kurvanti| pūrvakṛtasya karmaṇo'pi nāsti kriyācittam| karmedamatītagatam| kathaṃ kriyācittaṃ bhavet| ato na karmaṇo'pyasti cittam| yadyakriyācittapūrvakamiti| kathaṃ parasya duḥkhakṛt duḥkhaṃ labhate| parasya sukhakṛt sukhaṃ labhate| dṛṣṭe ca karmakaraṇe citte vikalpayati-evaṃ kartavyaṃ, evaṃ na kartavyamiti| yadi nāsti kriyācittam| kathamayaṃ vibhāgo bhavet| ataḥ sacittapūrvakamacittapūrvakaṃ sarvamayuktam| evamādayaḥ sarve'pīndriyaviṣayā nopalabhyante| ato nāsti dharmaḥ|

uttaramucyate| yat bhavān nānākāraṇairbravīti-sarve dharmāḥ śūnyā iti| tanmatamayuktam| kasmāt| pūrvamevoktaṃ mayā-yadi sarvamabhāva[rūpa]m| śāstramidamapyabhāvarūpam| nāpi sarvadharmeṣu ityādiśūnyatādūṣaṇamaprativadannapi śūnyatāṃ sthāpayasi| ato na sarvadharmā abhāvātmakāḥ| yadbhavatoktaṃ-nāstīndriyaṃ, nāstipratyaya ityādi| na tadasmābhiḥ pratipāditam| kasmāt| bhagavān sūtre svayamidaṃ nyaṣedhīt| yaduta pañca vastūnyacintyāni lokavastu, sattvavastu, karmapratyayatāvastu, dhyānaniṣṭhāvastu, tathāgatavastu iti| idamasarvajñaḥ puruṣo'bhyūhya na nitīrayituṃ śaknoti| tathāgatāḥ kevalaṃ dharmavivecanajñānasamarthāḥ| śrāvakāḥ pratyekabuddhāśca nirvāṇajñānamātragatiṃgatā dharmāṇāṃ vivecanajñānasyekadeśalābhinaḥ| tathāgatāḥ paraṃ sarvadharmāṇāṃ sarvākāraṃ prakṛtito naissvābhāvyaṃ viśeṣasāmānyalakṣaṇāni sarvāṇi pratividhyanti| yathā puruṣālayādayaḥ padārthāḥ suvināśā duṣkalpāḥ| evaṃ śūnyatājñānaṃ sulabham| dharmāṇāṃ pravicayajñānaṃ durutpādam|

(pṛ) yathā bhagavatā bodhimaṇḍagatena dharmāṇāṃ lakṣaṇaṃ pratilabdham| yathā ca bhagavatopadiṣṭam| tattathaiva bhaviṣyati| (u) bhagavān sarvadharmānupadiśannapi na sarvākāramupadiśati| vimuktyarthatvābhāvāt| tadyathā bhagavānupadiśati sarvadharmāḥ pratītya samutpannā iti| nopadiśatyekaikaśaḥ kiṃpratyaya iti|

duḥkhanāśanaprayojanamātramapekṣitamiti[tat]- upadiśati| vicitrāṅkādīni rūpāṇi nṛttagītādayo nādā gandharasasparśā apramāṇaviśeṣā nopadeśyāḥ| upadeśe'pi nāsti mahaddhitam ityata īdṛśaṃ vastu nopadiśati bhagavān| na [tāni] na santīti vaktuṃ śakyate| yathā kaścit citrāṅkanādidharmavikalpamajñātvā vadati tāni na santīti| tathā bhavānapi yatkimapyasādhayitvā vadati nāstīdaṃ-vastu iti| jñātustu asti| ajñātuḥ punarnāsti| yathā jātyandho vadati nāsti kṛṣṇamavadātaṃ vā, mayā'dṛṣṭatvāt| na cādṛṣṭatvādrūpāṇi na santīti sambhavati| yadyevam, pratītyasiddhatvānna santi sarve dharmā iti vaktuṃ pāryate|

tathāgatāḥ sarvajñā iti śraddheyamasmābhiḥ| tathāgatastu āha-santi pañca skandhā iti| ato jñāyate rūpādayaḥ sarvadharmāḥ santi yathā ghaṭādayaḥ saṃvṛtitaḥ santīti||

153 dharmacittanirodhavargaḥ

(pṛ) pūrvamuktaṃ-bhavatā trividhacittanirodho nirodhasatyamiti| hetupratyayākhya prajñapti [citta] nirodho jñāta eva| idānīṃ vaktavyaṃ kiṃ dharmacittaṃ, kathaṃ tasya nirodha iti| (u) santi vastutaḥ pañcaskandhā iti cittaṃ dharmacittamityucyate| pañcaskandhān śūnyān dṛṣṭvā samyagbhāvayato dharmacittaṃ nirudhyate| (pṛ) yogī paśyati pañcaskandhān śūnyān yaduta pañcaskandheṣu nāsti nityadharmaḥ sthiradharmo'vināśadharmo'vipariṇāmadharma ātmāmīyadharma iti| te śūnyā ityucyante| na tu skandhāneva na paśyatīti| (u) yogāvacaro naiva paśyati pañcaskandhān| kasmāt| yogāvacaraḥ saṃskṛtālambanacittaṃ prahāya asaṃskṛtālambanacittaṃ pratilabhate| ato yogāvacaraḥ pañcaskandhān na paśyati, skandhanirodhamātraṃ paśyati| pañcaskandhānāṃ darśane na śūnyā ityucyante| skandhānāmevāśūnyatvāt| evaṃ śūnyatājñānantu vikalaṃ syāt|

(pṛ) yogāvacaro rūpaṃ nairātmyataḥ śūnyaṃ paśyati| yathoktaṃ sūtre-yogāvacara idaṃ rūpaṃ paśyati yāvadidaṃ vijñānaṃ śūnyaṃ ṣaśyati iti| na tu rūpādayaḥ pañcaskandhā na santīti jñātavyam| (u) astīdaṃ vacanaṃ, na tu vyavadānā[rthaka]m| yathoktaṃ dharmamudrāsūtre- yogāvacaraḥ paśyati rūpādīn dharmān anityalakṣaṇān vikṣepalakṣaṇān vināśalakṣaṇān māyālakṣaṇān nirvedalakṣaṇān iti| idaṃ śūnyākhyamapi na vyavadānātmakam| puruṣo'yaṃ [ya]dante pañcaskandhānāṃ nirodhaṃ paśyati| taddarśanaṃ tāvadvayavadānā[tmakam] ato jñāyate pañcaskandhānāṃ nirodhaṃ paśyatīti|

(pṛ) saṃskṛtālambanajñānena kasmānna vyavadānaṃ labhate| (u) yogāvacarasya pañcaskandhasaṃjñāpravṛttasya kadācitprajñapticittaṃ punarbhavet| ataḥ saṃskṛtālambanacittena na vyavadānaṃ labhate| pañcaskandhānāṃ nirodhaṃ sākṣātkurvatastu na tat punarabhimukhībhabati| prajñaptikāraṇanirodhasya prasādhitatvāt prajñaptisaṃjñā nānuvartate| tadyathā kaścana vṛkṣaḥ krakacakṛtto bhasmasātkṛtaḥ prakṣīṇaḥ| na [tatra] vṛkṣasaṃjñā prahīṇā punaranuvartate| tathā idamapi| bhagavān rādhamāha-sattvaṃ tathā vibhida, vidhama, yathā nopatiṣṭhati iti| kiñcāhaikaṃ sūtrama-rūpaṃ rādha tathā vibhida, vidhama yathā nopatiṣṭhati iti| ato jñāyate yaḥ sattvaparibhedaḥ iyaṃ prajñaptiśūnyatā| yo rūpaparibhedaḥ iyaṃ dharmaśūnyateti|

bhāvanā ca dvividhā-śūnya[tā-] bhāvanā nairātmyabhāvanā iti| śūnyatābhāvanā ca yat prajñaptisattvādarśanam| yathā kaścit jalaṃ nāstīti ghaṭa śūnyaṃ paśyati| tathā pañcaskandheṣu pudgalo nāstīti [tān] śūnyān paśyati| yat dharmān na paśyati| idaṃ nairātmyamityucyate| uktañca sūtre-nairātmyajñānalābhī samyagvimucyate iti| ato jñāyate rūpasvabhāvanirodho vedanāsaṃjñāsaṃskāravijñānasvabhāvanirodho nairātmyamityucyate| naiḥsvābhāvyameva nairātmyam| (pṛ) yadi naiḥsvābhāvyaṃ nairātmyamityucyata iti| kimidānīṃ na santi vastutaḥ pañcaskandhāḥ| (u) na santi vastutaḥ| santi tu saṃvṛtitaḥ| kasmāt| bhagavānāha-saṃskārāḥ saṃvṛtitaḥ santi māyāvat nirmitavat| na tu paramārthataḥ| paramārthataḥ śūnyamiti vacanam-ayamarthasatyataḥ śūnyo na saṃvṛtisatyata iti| paramārthaśca yaduta rūpaṃ śūnyamakiñcanam yāvadvijñānaṃ śūnyamakiñcanam| ato yadrūpādīnāṃ dharmāṇāṃ śūnyatādarśanaṃ tat paramārthaśūnyatādarśanamityucyate|

(pṛ) yadi pañca skandhāḥ saṃvṛtisatyataḥ santi| kasmāducyante rūpādayo dharmāḥ paramārthasatyā iti| (u) sattvānāṃ kṛta ucyante| santi kecit pañcaskandheṣu samutpannaparamārthasaṃjñāḥ| tadarthamucyante pañca skandhāḥ paramārthataḥ śūnyā iti| (pṛ) kiṃ nu khalu sūtre noktam asti karma asti phalam, kārakastu nopalabhyate iti| (u) ayaṃ hetuḥ dharmaṇāṃ kārakākhyo nopalabhyata itīdaṃ prajñaptiśūnyatābhidhānam| yathoktaṃ sūtre-dharmāḥ prajñaptisaṃjñāmātram| prajñaptisaṃjñā ca yaduta avidyāpratyayāḥ saṃskārā yāvajjarāmaraṇaduḥkhasamudayanirodho bhavati iti| asmādvacanāt jñāyate pañcaskandhā api paramārthato na santīti| mahāśūnyatāsūtre'pyuktam-ya āha idaṃ jarāmaraṇaṃ, tasya jarāmaraṇam iti| ya āha-sa eva jīvaḥ tadeva śarīram, anyo jīvo'nyat śarīram iti| idamekārthakam, vyañjanameva nānā| yeṣāmeṣā dṛṣṭiḥ na te macchrāvakā na brahmacāriṇa iti| yat tasya jarāmaraṇaṃ pratiṣidhyate tat prajñaptikhaṇḍanam| yadidaṃ jarāmaraṇaṃ pratiṣidhyate| tat pañcaskandhakhaṇḍanam| kiñcāha-jātipratyayaṃ jarāmaraṇaṃ madhyamā pratipadityucyate| nāsti jarāmaraṇaṃ paramārthata ityuktamiti jñātavyam| saṃvṛtita ucyate jātipratyayaṃ jarāmaraṇamiti| yathā ghaṭasaṃjñā'tyaye nāsti ghaṭaḥ paramārthataḥ| evaṃ rūpādidharmāṇāmatyaye nāsti rūpaṃ paramārthataḥ| uktañca sūtre-yo dharmo māyā sa mṛṣā| yo dharmo'māyā, sa eva paramārthaḥ iti| sarve saṃskṛtadharmā vipariṇāmitvāt māyā ityucyante| māyātvādabhūtāḥ| abhūtatvānna paramārthasantaḥ| yathāha gāthā-

abhūtabaddho loko'yaṃ suniścitavatprabhāsate|
asat dṛṣṭaṃ sadābhāsamasadvai parayā dhiyā|| iti|

nirodhasatyadarśanaṃ mārgalābha ityucyate| ato jñāyate nirodhaḥ paramārthasan, na skandhā iti| yadi skandhāḥ paramārthasantaḥ, yogāvacaro'pi dṛṣṭvā mārgalābhī syāt| vastutastu na tathā| ato jñāyate pañcaskandhā na paramārthasanta iti| skandhanirodhaśca satyam| ato jñāyate skandhā na satyamiti| na sambhavati skandhāḥ satyaṃ skandhābhāvo'pi satyamiti vaktum| dṛśyasya sarvasya mohahetukatvāt| yathā na kaścidavañcitalocano māyāṃ paśyati| tathā yo'mugdhaḥ na sa paśyati skandhān| ataḥ skandhā na paramārthasantaḥ| uktañca sūtre-yatrāsmīti tatreñjitam| skandheṣu cāsti asmīti| yathāhānandaḥ-dharmānupādāya asmīti sidhyati yaduta rūpaskandhaṃ yāvadvijñānaskandhamupādāyeti| sthavirā bhikṣavaḥ kṣemakamāhuḥ-kimasmīti vadasi| kṣemakaḥ pratyāha-na khalvāyuṣmanto rūpamasmīti vadāmi| nāpyanyatrarūpādasmīti vadāmi| evaṃ yāvadvijñānamapi| api ca me āyuṣmantaḥ pañcasūpādānaskandheṣu asmīti adhigatam| [ayamahamasmīti na samanupaśyāmi]| iti| ayaṃ sūtrāśayaḥ-śaikṣajanāḥ kadācit smṛtivikṣepādasmimānamutpādayanti| samāhitasmṛtikasya pañcasūpādānaskandheṣu asmimānaṃ niruddhameva| puṣpavat| na mūlakāṇḍaśākhāpatrāṇyeva puṣpam| nāpyanyatra tebhya puṣpam| evameva na rūpā dīni asmīti [vadāmi]| nāpyanyatra rūpādibhyaḥ asmīti [vadāmi]| evamasminirodhapratyayamasmimānaṃ na pravartate| ato jñāyate pañcopādānaskandhā api śūnyā iti|

yogāvacaraḥ sarvanimittāni nirudhyānimittaṃ sākṣātkuryāt| yadi vastusat nimittam, kimarthaṃ nānusmarati| na tīrthikānāmiva rūpaprahāṇakāle jñāyate vastusat rūpaṃ, parantu nānusmaryata iti| yogī avaśyaṃ rūpādīnāṃ skandhānāṃ nirodhaṃ paśyati nirodhadarśanāt animitte'vatarati| ato jñāyate rūpādayo na paramārthasanta iti| yatra santi pañcaskandhāḥ tatrāsmīti buddhirbhavati| pañcaskandhā na santītyato'smīti buddhirnirudhyate| ataḥ skandhāḥ sarve śunyāḥ| phenasūtre bhagavānāha-yadi puruṣaḥ phenapiṇḍaṃ paśyet yoniśa upaparīkṣeta| sa[tat]tucchakañcaiva jānīyāt| evameva bhikṣuryadi rūpaskandhaṃ samyagupaparīkṣate| sa[taṃ] riktakañcaiva jānāti, tucchakañcaiva[jānāti], asārakañcaiva[jānati], vikṣepalakṣaṇañcaiva jānāti| vedanāmupaparīkṣate yathā buddhudam, saṃjñā [mupaparīkṣate]yathā marīcikām, saṃskārā [nupaparīkṣate] yathā kadalīm, vijñāna[mupaparīkṣate] yathā māyām| tatra pañca dṛṣṭāntāḥ śūnyārthanirūpaṇāḥ| kasmāt| paśyāmaḥ khalu cakṣuṣā phenamapacīyamānamabhāvatāṃ yāti| tathā budbudādīnyapi| ato jñāyate skandhā na paramārthasanta iti| ye jinaputrāḥ saṃsārāt paramanirviṇṇāḥ| [te]dharmāṇāṃ prakṛtito'nutpādamākiñcanyañca paśyanti| ato ye'nityaṃ paśyanti| [teṣāṃ] vikṣepavināśaduḥkhalakṣaṇameva bhavati| ye niḥsvabhāvaṃ paśyanti, anyalakṣaṇābhāvāt te duḥkhacaryāṃ paripūrayanti| etattrividhaduḥkhaparipūraṇaṃ vimuktiprāpakamityucyate| [ataḥ] sarvadharmāḥ śūnyā iti jñātavyam|

śūnyatā ca vimokṣamukham| śūnyatā ceyaṃ na kevalaṃ sattvaśūnyatātmikā| dharmaśūnyatā[tmikā]pi cāsti| yathoktam-cakṣurutpadyamānaṃ na kutaścidāgacchati| nirudhyamānaṃ na kvacidgacchati| tadā prajānāti atītamanāgataṃ cakṣuḥ śūnyamiti| pratyutpannaṃ cakṣurapi caturmahābhūtavikalpitamityataḥ śūnyamiti| yathāha bhagavān-yaccakṣuṣi māṃsapiṇḍe khakkaṭaṃ kharagataṃ sa pṛthivī [dhātu]ḥ ityādi| ya imāṃ śūnyatāṃ pratilabhate sa vadati nāsti yatkiñciditi| kiñcāha-sarvasaṃskārāḥ prahīyanta iti prahāṇasvabhāvāḥ| vimucyanta iti vimuktikhabhāvāḥ| nirudhyanta iti nirodhasvabhāvāḥ iti| ato jñāyate sarve saṃskārā niruddhā bhavantīti| yadi vastusantaḥ saṃskārāḥ tadā na syuḥ samyak prahāṇavimuktinirodhāḥ| nirodhaścābhāva ityucyate| ato draṣṭavyaṃ paramārthataḥ saṃskārāḥ sarve'bhāvātmakāḥ saṃvṛtitastu santi saṃskārā iti||

yannirvāṇālambanaṃ tat śūnyacittamityucyate| (pṛ) nirvāṇamasaddharmaḥ| cittaṃ kimālambate| (u) cittamidaṃ yatkiñcatābhāvamālambate| idaṃ pūrvameva pratipāditam| nirvāṇajñānatvāt| (pṛ) śūnyacittamidaṃ kutra nirudhyate| (u) sthānadvaye [nirudhyate] (1) acittakasamādhimupasampannasya (2) anupadhiśeṣanirvāṇaṃ praviṣṭhasya santānasamucchede vā nirudhyate| kasmāt| hetupratyayanirodhāt| acittakasamādhāvālambananirodhāt [tat] nirudhyate| santāne samucchidyamāne punaḥ karmakṣayāt [tat] nirudhyate|

śāstramāha-etāni trīṇi cittāni nirodhayato yogāvacarasya karmakleśā naiva punaḥ samudācaranti (pṛ) kasmāt na samudācaranti| (u) puruṣo'yaṃ nairātmyasampanna ityataḥ karmakleśā nirudhyante| yathā pradīpo dharmaśca sati niśraye vartate| asati niśraye na vartate| evamātmacitte niśraye sati karmakleśānāṃ samudayaḥ| asati tu na samudayaḥ| anāsravā samyagdṛṣṭiḥ sarvāṇi nimittāni tathā pradahati yathā na kiñcidavaśiṣyate| yathā kalpāgniḥ pṛthivyādin niḥśeṣaṃ dahati| nimittābhāvāt karmakleśānāṃ na punaḥ samudayo bhavati| asmicittakasya tu karmakleśāḥ samudyanti| arhataḥ śūnyatājñānagatiṃgatasya asmimānarahitasya na punaḥ samudyanti|

asya nūtnakarmānupacaye'pi prāktanakarmahetunā kasmānnopapattirbhavati| (u) samyak-prajñayā tatkarmavināśānna vipākabhāgbhavati| yathā dagdhaṃ bījaṃ na punaḥ prarohati| asati ca tṛṣṇācitte na karmāṇi pacyante| yathā anabhiṣyanditāyāṃ bhūmau bījaṃ na prarohati| yogāvacarasyāsya sarvavijñānasthitiṣu sarvanimittanirodhe vijñānaṃ nirāśrayaṃ bhavati| ato nāstyupapattyāyatanam| yathā bījamanāśrayaṃ notpadyate| karmakleśapauṣkalyāt kāyamupādatte| apauṣkalye tu nirudhyate|

sa kleśābhāvāt vikalahetupratyayaḥ satsvapi karmasu nopapattiṃ vedayate| sattvāḥ kleśahetorgatiṣu kāyaṃ vedayante| kāyaṃ vedayata ityataḥ tasya karmāṇi vipākaṃ prayacchanti| asati kleśe kāyo na vedyate| kāyavedyabhāvāt karmāṇi kasya vipākaṃ prayacchanti| yathā adharmeṇa prabalamadhitiṣṭhati uttamarṇo nāvakāśaṃ labhate| tathā yogāvacaro'pi| saṃsāre'vartamānasya santyapi karmāṇi na vipākaṃ prayacchanti| yathā baddhaṃ puruṣamanye janā yatheṣṭaṃ nindanti| evaṃ kleśabaddhānāṃ sattvānāṃ karmatāratamyavaśāt [kleśāḥ] vipākaṃ prayacchanti| pratilabdhavimokṣe tu nāvakāśaṃ labhante|

svīyaṃ karma ca vipākaṃ prayacchati| śūnyacaryāvihāritvādasya puruṣasya dharmeṣu svalakṣaṇa[saṃjñā] nāstītyataḥ karmāṇi na vipākaṃ prayacchanti| yathā dattīkṛtasya putrasya dāyabhāgo nāsti| tathedamapi| kleśabalena ca karmāṇi pravartante| kleśavege kṣīṇe tu na tāni pravartante| yathā cakraṃ gatisthamapi vegakṣayānna punaḥ pravartate| kleśabale ca karmāṇi vikārayanti| yathā sutavatsalāyā mātuḥ raktaṃ stanyaṃ pariṇamate| niruddhavātsalyacittāyāstu na punaḥ pariṇamate| evaṃ kleśabalāt karma vipākaṃ prayacchati| [kleśa]virahe tu na prayacchati| ayañca puruṣaḥ śīlasamādhiprajñādiguṇairbhāvitakāyaḥ| tatprabhāvamāhātmyāt karmāṇi nāvakāśaṃ labhante| ataḥ sadapi prāktanaṃ karma na vipākaṃ prayacchati| evamasya prāktanaṃ karma pratyutpanne kiñci[dvipāka] marpayati| nūtnaṃ tu karma na karoti| yathāgnirindhanānāṃ bhasmībhāve śāmyati| evamayaṃ puruṣo'pi vedanīyābhāvānnirudhyate| [iti] trividhacittānāṃ nirodhātsarvaduḥkhebhyo'tyantaṃ vimucyate| ato vidvān trividhacittāni nirundhyāt||
